Boston's First Espresso Martini Lounge Opens at Liberty Hotel

New seasonal patio experience at iconic Charles Street location offers Chelsea residents a trendy nearby destination

The espresso martini craze has officially reached its peak in Boston. A new seasonal lounge dedicated entirely to the popular cocktail is set to open at the Liberty Hotel, giving Chelsea residents a trendy nearby destination just minutes from home.

The Espresso Martini Garden, located in the hotel's outdoor patio space, features florals, greenery, string lights, and a custom LED tree that changes colors throughout the evening. Organizers hope the space will become a social media destination for locals and visitors alike.

The concept comes from creator Shannon Burke, who was inspired by a similar pop-up experience in New York City a few years ago. After searching for the right location in Boston, she partnered with the Lyons Group, the hospitality firm behind the Alibi Bar and Lounge at the Liberty Hotel.

For Chelsea residents, the new lounge offers an easy trip across the bridge to Beacon Hill. The Liberty Hotel, once the historic Charles Street Jail, has become a popular destination for North Shore residents looking for unique dining and drinking experiences in the city.

The menu features seven different espresso martini variations, all named after famous jails in a nod to the building's history. Flavors include cookie dough, tiramisu, and orange creme brulee, each designed to be as visually appealing as they are tasty.

We really went all out trying to create a lot of different flavors that not only taste amazing but look amazing, Burke said.

The seasonal timing could not be better. With summer weather finally arriving, outdoor drinking spaces are filling up across the city. Burke expects the lounge to draw crowds looking for something new and Instagram-worthy.

It is like the perfect storm, she said. The weather is finally getting nice. People are excited to be drinking again outside, so we are expecting it to be very successful.

The response has already been overwhelming. Burke said her direct messages are flooded with inquiries from people eager to visit when the lounge opens.

For Chelsea locals looking for a unique night out without traveling far, the Espresso Martini Garden offers a convenient option. The Liberty Hotel is easily accessible via the Orange Line or a short drive across the Tobin Bridge.
