There's a little taste of Honduras waiting on Broadway in Chelsea Square, and its name is Catrachos Restaurant.

Known as La Casa de la Baleada, or "The House of the Baleada," Catrachos specializes in traditional Honduran dishes, including one of the country's most beloved foods.

A baleada starts with a soft flour tortilla filled with refried beans, cheese, and crema. At Catrachos, customers can choose additional fillings, including eggs, meat, chorizo, and avocado.

Another favorite is pollo con tajadas, fried chicken served with crispy slices of green banana and a tangy cabbage slaw.

But there's more to Catrachos than its menu.

According to Discover Chelsea's business profile, the restaurant opened in 2019 through the efforts of four siblings: Claudia, Jose, Rene, and Johanna Mateo.

Longtime Chelsea residents with Honduran roots, the siblings brought their family's food traditions to the community. Their story reflects how local businesses help preserve cultural heritage while introducing neighbors to new experiences.

The menu also includes Honduran breakfast dishes, grilled meats, fried fish, and other traditional favorites.

Planning a visit? Catrachos is located at 140 Broadway, Chelsea, MA 02150.

Its official website lists hours of 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday through Sunday. Ordering-platform hours may differ.

Customers can explore online ordering options or call 617-884-1141 to confirm hours and availability.

Whether you're already familiar with Honduran cooking or curious to try something new, Catrachos offers a way to explore the food traditions that help shape Chelsea's community.
